This auction is for an Old Historic Photograph of Tucker Town, Texas. Tucker Town or Tuckertown was an oil boom town a few miles from Corsicana, the county seat of Navarro County, Texas. Tucker Town came into existence in July of 1923. It was a rough and tumble oil town that started to decline in 1926 when the oil production fell off. Today the town is completely gone and covered by pasture. This photo is 40" long. The images show different sections of the large photo starting from the left side. A caption on the photo reads, " Tucker Town, Texas 8-19-1923. Also on the photo, though very hard to see is, "Crawford / & / Jackson / Photo / 8-19-1923. Store names on the photo include, El Paso Cafe, Lady Barber Shop, Ryan Drug Co, J. N. Long Dry Goods, Busy Bee Cafe, Ruth's Place, Bishop Cafe, Tucker Drug Co, City Drug Co, ?? Davidson Boarding House, and a truck with Shaws Model Laundry on the side. The photo with the oil wells, old cars, buildings, tents, and men captures the scene from a bygone era. The photo has soiling, several creases, and a large stain on the far right side. Payment from high bidder is due within 7 days or item may be relisted.
