Beautifully Preserved Stereo Graphoscope Viewer As seen here: The term Stereo Graphoscope (Stereographoscope) applies for instruments like this one, with a combination of a large magnifier lens and a pair of stereoscopic lenses. There were produced from 1865 to the early 20th century. The purpose of these devices was to examine 2d and 3d pictures. The Stereographoscope pictured here has an attractive design with light color. It is rather compact (size of the base is 9 x 5.5 inches, 22.4 x 14 cm), with a magnifier of about 4" (3 3/4" clear) There are no brand markings in the unit and I do not know if it was produced in England or France. It is possible that the size of the stereo images it accepts is 6x13 cm. Regarding the condition, the only defect I can find (there might be more than I do not see) is that the two latches have their top missing, so to open it I used the edge of a screw driver to press down and release the latches.
