I have had this particular daguerreotype in my personal collection for some time now. I kept it because it was and is of the very best quality. The image is crisp, perfect and sealed. The image is of what I believe to be 2 brothers and their 2 sisters. I say this because the girls are wearing the exactly same dress. The case is almost perfect with no lines cracks to the gutta percha . One side of the case has what looks to be two cupids standing on a lyre. In the lower right hand corner of this side is a flake . ( see photo ) The back has the Bible opened and standing on a table surrounded by rays of light . Above the Bible is written " Matthew VI. 9 " . Around the edge is written in relief " *Our Father which art in Heaven hallowed be thy name * " and around then underside of the Bible is written " But deliver us from evil." An w extra fine example and a nice addition to any collection. ** NO RESERVE **You will find a shipping calculator located on this auction that will give you a price to send this item to your zip code.

This is the most interesting and unusual Antique Photograph Album that I have ever had the pleasure of viewing ! I do not know who the photographer was yet he ( or she ) certainly had an " eye " for photographs ! It struck me as I was enjoying myself while looking through this album that nearly every image was better than what one normally finds while sorting through old photographs . The normal antique portrait photograph is of a man , woman or child .The subjects are usually posed and have a pained expression on their face . The portraits in this album are in natural settings ( outdoors , on the steps of a house , hanging out of a window , on a big rock in a park ) and the people seem genuinely happy ! Many of these portrait images include cats or dogs .There are many , many photographs of historic Central New York structures as well as images of ordinary houses and barns . The photographer was fond of Parades and this album includes many images of these events taken from across the street from the Weiting Opera House near Clinton Square in Downtown Syracuse . These images include Policemen marching , Firemen with various apparatus . Soldiers , etc. The parade reviewing stand was located in front of the Opera House .There are several images of Clinton Square and the Erie Canal . It gives terrific perspective from 100 years distance on how the Erie Canal operated in and affected Downtown Syracuse . In one of the Clinton Square shots there is a motorcycle in the foreground ...really cool ! The album is not dated and I was trying to decide when these photographs were taken . There are more than 40 images of the Barnum & Bailey Circus including Circus Parade scenes , Wild West Shows , Elaborate Circus Wagons , Exotic Animals and Circus Tents . I have learned that the Barnum Circus came to Syracuse in !903 , 1906 , 1908 , 1910 , 1912 , 1914 , 1916 & 1918 . One of the things that I noticed with the Circus images is that many of the shots are a-typical in that they are taken behind the tents showing the everyday activities & debris associated with that life . Judging from the Early Automobiles and Motorcycle I believe that the photographs were taken circa 1908 . I think that with a bit more scholarly research someone will be able to pin down the date more accurately . Aside from the images of Syracuse ,other images that I can identify ( many I cannot ) include The " Second " Lighthouse at Oswego Harbor , Factories along the river in Volney , Niagara Falls and the " Maid of the Mist " tour boat and Long Branch Park . There are over 300 photographs in this album ( and I am including two loose pages that are laid in this album from another album with 40 more photographs ) . When this album came to me I thought about breaking it up and selling the pictures individually and in associated lots . I decided that the album as a whole is so rare and interesting and opens a sort of window into life in Central New York a century ago that I was not going to be the one to scatter this amazing collection ! I have been at this business for a long time and I cannot remember seeing a photographic document like this relating to Syracuse and Central New York . It is INCREDIBLE !! Some of the interesting aspects / subjects include A Hunting Party with Rifles & Shotguns , A woman holding a Winchester rifle , Erie Canal scenes , Firemen , Policemen , Early Automobiles , Fire apparatus , Electrical Towers ( being erected & with men on top ) Happy Children , Theatrical subjects , Families , Genre scenes , Rowing / Regatta Teams , Winter Landscapes , Fisherman , Man Wearing a Halloween Mask , Lions, Tigers and Bears ..OH MY ! Camels , Leopards , Elephants , Horses , Cowboys , Native Americans , Buffalo , Child on a Sled , Girl in a Tree , Girl on a Swing , Boats , Horse Drawn Wagons , etc. , etc. , etc. I have a bunch more images that I will send to you if you are interested ( I could only post 12 with this listing ) . Just send a request with your email address and I will be pleased to send them. This album came from an estate in Syracuse along with various antiques and artwork which I am selling here on EBay. I endeavor to have an interesting and eclectic variety of items for sale on Ebay .I find the items that I sell at local estate sales , auctions , flea markets , yard sales , antique shops and from people that know that I sell on Ebay and want me to sell something for them . Your satisfaction is my top concern so I offer a full refund if you are not happy , for any reason , with your purchase . I am always happy to combine shipping costs in order to save you money , Please let me know if you purchase more than one item and get separate invoices from me ( that means that you may be billed for shipping costs on each individual purchase ... you don't want that ) .THANKS. I accept ALL types of payments ...YOU JUST HAVE TO ASK . . INTERNATIONAL BUYERS TAKE NOTE : I am very pleased that you are interested in my item and I will gladly ship it to you via the most economical means possible . That usually means USPS First Class or Priority Mail International . I will be pleased to offer you a shipping quote ... just ask .If you have special requirements I will try to oblige . Please keep in mind that First Class is alot less expensive....but has no tracking device, and CAN take up to six weeks to arrive....so keep this in mind, OK? Thank you for your interest !!

Here is a box lot of photos, mostly tintypes. In the third picture the woman on the bottom left is definitely and ambrotype, others appear to be, some are just on paper. Includes women, children, baby photos. All as is as found, see photos and box lot info below. PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION PROVIDED BELOW AND BEFORE BIDDING - we know it takes time but it is important, we want every transaction to go smoothly and every bidder to know what to expect from us. Unless otherwise indicated, all items are used and sold as is as found no returns, of course if we make an error in our listing and an item is not as described (if we miss obvious damage, if we state an item works and it does not) we are always willing to work with our buyers. No returns for any reason after 3 days from delivery, that should allow plenty of time to open and inspect your item. We are selling used, older, and played with items, expect normal age appropriate signs of wear and use, sometimes odors, dust, etc. We make every effort to point out wear or damage that is beyond normal. We would never intentionally mislead a bidder, we simply may not know if pieces are missing, if there has been restoration, or if whatever information we have is accurate, let us know if you need something checked, and we welcome corrections if you see something is not right or not complete. Most of the items we sell are consigned and we may have little or no familiarity with them. What is in the photos is what is in the auction (except props), and photos are as much a part of the description as the verbal information so please look at them closely, if you do not see something do not assume it is included, it is not. If you need additional photos or have questions let us know. FOR BOX LOTS OR LARGE LOTS: We get some great lots from our consignors. But these lots are not described or inspected item by item. We will try to note any problems while handling the items but we will not guarantee we catch everything and we do not check every item. Listing box lots instead of item by item in many different auctions means we can list at at a low starting price for the whole lot rather than the same starting price for each piece. And although the shipping for a large lot of items can get expensive because of weight or box size, it certainly is a lot less than the accumulated cost of shipping each item by itself if they were bought one at a time. Listing box lots also allows us to list items that we would not otherwise list, because their individual value would be too low. So although we are limited to the amount of detail we can give about the individual items in a box lot, and we may not catch some damage, you get a substantial shipping savings, access to more of a variety of items, and sometimes a treasure in the mix! If the winning bidder does not want all the items in a lot let us know before we pack the morning after the auction. SHIPPING INFO: If you have any specific packing advice or requests we need to be told before we pack the morning after the auction. We always check for a less expensive way to ship after the auction we will, flat or regional weight box, but there are way to many options that are location sensitive in cost and we are selling items that are not always easy to figure out final box size and weight, expensive or fragile items need to be double boxed, etc. The shipping calculator is reliable for small items shipped in the US, but for many items it only provides an ESTIMATE. Unless stated in the item description above, we NEVER add more than a 2-5 dollar fee to what we actually pay for shipping, this fee goes towards the insurance (all items are insured), delivery confirmation, signature confirmation on expensive items, packing materials, and the time involved in packing large lots or fragile items, often it does not even cover our actual costs. If a package is lost or arrives damaged our insurance requires the buyer to sign a claim statement. For an item damaged in shipping, do not throw out the original box or packing materials, they may need to be inspected. If a buyer does not return a claim statement or retain the original packing materials and an insurance claim is denied because of the buyers actions, we can not issue a refund. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS ONLY: Until we have a sold price and destination we can not be sure the calculator is accurate. Any item that totals over $499.00 in shipping and sold price has to be sent Express International in order to be covered by our insurance, and if between 249.00 - 499.00 we require priority international mail or registered first class mail. All items must be insured. The auction sold price is the only amount that will appear on the customs form as the item value. Any import duties or taxes you may have to pay on your end are your responsibility and not additional shipping. We are not responsible for the post office's lack of scanning a package to show its progress or for how long it takes for delivery. First Class International has no tracking ability, we can add registered mail as an option if you are concerned about that, but that adds at least 10.00 to the shipping cost. If your country shows "contact seller" for shipping estimate, that means your country is one that has restrictions on size for priority and express international, and this item can not be shipped to you without a huge cost. Payment should be received within 5 days of auction end please. Sales tax required for all NY shipments, that amount is based on delivery location and shipping charges so that has to be adjusted after the auction.
