Civil War Soldiers w/ tattered crossed Regiment Flags Picture(s) and Description:

This auction includes two cdvs. The first is a studio portrait of a young soldier in uniform. Normally I would never separate photos, but I felt that these would appeal to a different set of collectors than the albums, so be it. One album is inscribed "to Elisabeth Miller from her father, Jan 1, 1864" She then wrote on the next page, "Mrs. Elisabeth Miller album", so Miller is apparently her married name, and not likely useful in identifying the soldier. His photos were originally in the larger of the three albums, which has no inscription, but were purchased together and share some of the same family photos. The studio portrait is in great condition, taken in Albany, NY. The second photo was found hidden behind another cdv in the album. It shows two soldiers, holding what I believe are Regiment flags. They are tattered and torn, but they are proudly displaying them. It looks like the photo was taken in the field, as it is not mounted on a standard cdv card, and there is no photographer id on the reverse. I believe the man on the left is the soldier in the other photo, although he looks a bit older and somewhat shellshocked, his features are the same, so I will assume it is him. I am no expert in military images, so if anyone would like to share any information on his uniform, etc, please do so. I do know this is an amazing and unique image, and hope it gets into the hands of a collector. Please email with any questions. I will add an image of a direct scan shortly.
