1909 San Antonio, TX Lillian Vance Kenney Album Picture(s) and Description:

This is an original ca. 1909 photo album, with 87 photos, documenting the young life of Lillian Vance Kenney. The album begins of two hand-tinted photos of her, ca. 1909, when she was about 5 years old. She is shown on the grand upstairs porch or balcony of their home, either on Travis St or on Poplar St. The Travis St. house was sold around 1909 and the St. Anthony Hotel was built on the site. In 1910 the Kenney family was living at 206 E. Poplar St. Lillie is shown with her father, Dr. John Kenney, and other family members. Also, with her dog and cat. A few other photos are hand-tinted. Her beautiful bedroom is shown in several photos, along with her dolls. Another photo shows her standing in front of a windmill and cistern; this might have been the Vance Ranch on Vance Jackson Rd. Other photos show vintage automobiles, swimming in a creek or river, holding baby Jack Phillips Kenney, various outings, dolls and stuffed animals lined up on small chairs, horse and buggy, petting a fawn, etc. Although only two of the photos are identified, we can recognize many of the locations or structures from previous albums we have sold on ebay. One view is of what we recall as being Dr. Kenney’s Sanitorium, located at 209 Ogden. There are 8 photos of the family in the surf, most likely at Corpus Christi. Two photos are identified as Katherine Fischer’s Party, Dec. 28, 1912; everyone is in costume, one photo showing the kids masked, the other showing them unmasked. Several photos were removed from the album prior to our purchasing this album. Condition: most are glued to pages. Very good. Any yellow and/or white blob in the picture is a reflection of the flash and overhead lights.
